For centuries in India and Bangladesh, Bengali women stitched together with old saris and cloth scraps to form blankets and cushions. This lap quilt is a vibrant, colorful whole piece cotton cloth hand-stitched with a running stitch in multiple #5 & #8 thick Perle cotton thread colors. Machine quilting was used with #12 thread to sew a few rows to ensure extra securement of the quilt. The Kantha is a big running stitch that
has a very soft, organic quality. The backing is solid grey & the binding is hand-stitched. Measures 41”W x 68”H.
